Help
The questions we are asked most often. If yours is not here, the in-app assistant answers from your account.
These answers cover how the service works in general. For a question about a specific parcel or trip, the Help screen in the app connects you to our team and keeps the history of your exchanges.
Is Peercel free?
Creating an account, publishing a parcel or a trip and chatting in the app are free. Peercel charges a service fee only on deliveries that actually take place, at the moment funds are released to the traveller. The net amount is shown before acceptance.
How is my payment protected?
The amount you pay is collected on agreement, but it stays in escrow with Peercel. The traveller receives nothing until delivery is confirmed with the code held by your recipient. If the parcel is never handed over, you can open a dispute and the funds stay frozen during the review.
How are identities verified?
Before carrying a parcel, going over certain amounts or withdrawing funds, every member goes through identity verification: a national ID card, passport, residence permit or driving licence. Every file is reviewed manually by our team.
What are the handover codes for?
Two single-use codes frame the delivery. At pick-up, the traveller shows their code and the sender enters it. At delivery, the recipient receives a code by SMS and the traveller enters it. The rule is always the same: whoever receives the parcel holds the code, whoever gives it away enters it. So nobody can declare a handover that never happened.
What can I send, and what should I refuse?
Prohibited: narcotics, prescription medicines without the prescription, weapons and ammunition, dangerous materials, cash and undeclared valuables, live animals, perishables without suitable packaging, counterfeit and stolen goods. As a traveller, you must inspect the contents before accepting a parcel: you are responsible for it throughout the journey, including at customs.
How is the price set?
The sender proposes a price, the traveller accepts or counter-offers — negotiation works both ways. An indicative price is calculated per corridor and weight bracket, and an offer cannot go below half that indicative price.
What if the parcel does not arrive?
Open a dispute from the delivery concerned. Escrowed funds stay frozen, our team reviews the case using evidence from both parties and decides on a full refund, a partial refund, or release of the funds. You are kept informed in the dispute thread.
Can I cancel?
Before pick-up, yes, on both sides — the consequences depend on when you cancel and are shown before confirmation. After pick-up, the parcel must be delivered to the recipient or returned to the sender; the return is recorded in the app just like a delivery.
How do I withdraw the money I earn?
Released funds land in your Peercel balance. You withdraw them by mobile money or bank transfer, depending on what is available in your country. Any provider fees are shown before you confirm the withdrawal, and identity verification must be complete.
What does my trust level mean?
It sums up your history: completed deliveries, ratings received, cancellation rate. It is visible before any match and is distinct from a plain review average, which only aggregates ratings. It rises with successful deliveries and falls with late cancellations and disputes.
Do I have to give the other person my phone number?
No. Conversations happen in the app's messaging, whose content is encrypted. You do not have to share your number or your home address before deciding to go ahead. Only your recipient receives an SMS, containing the delivery code.
Someone is asking me to pay outside Peercel — what should I do?
Refuse, and report it from the app. Off the platform there is no escrow, no handover code and no possible recourse. Any such request is grounds for suspending the account concerned.
How do I delete my account?
From the app (Profile, then Account settings) or, without installing the app, from the Delete my account page. You receive a confirmation link by email, then our team handles the request. Details of what is deleted and what is kept are on that page and in the privacy policy.
Is Peercel available in my country?
The service targets corridors between Western Europe and West and Central Africa. The list of cities served depends on the trips published: it grows as travellers join the platform. If your route is not covered yet, publishing your parcel is still useful — it becomes visible to travellers who later publish that journey.
